Shih Poo
SWEET PUPPY WINKY REJECTED FOR NOT BEING "PERFECT" ENOUGH Winky is a 2-month-old, 5.6 lb Shi-Poo with the sweetest soul. He was born with one eye that doesn’t see, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. He’s fun, engaging, cuddly, affectionate, and playful, but also enjoys his chill time. One of his cutest tricks? He’ll stand on his hind legs and wiggle his paws like he’s saying hello. He loves chewing on bully sticks, gets along beautifully with other dogs and kids, and is just so, so sweet. We adore him, and we’re beyond grateful that he’s now safe at Shelter Hope. Before coming to us, Winky had been bred and listed online with his siblings for purchase. The others sold quickly because they appeared “perfect.” Winky didn’t. He has a visible eye defect, and no one wanted to pay for a puppy who might come with medical bills. Genetic defects plague dogs from backyard breeders. This is exactly why real rescue groups are so important. If you know about puppies being sold in your community, report the sellers. Report fake rescues flipping puppies. It is against the law in California to ship in puppy mill puppies and label them as rescues. We immediately got Winky seen by Dr. Slaton in Westlake Village. His eye condition is a genetic defect he was born with. He is blind in that eye, but it causes him no pain or problems getting around. Dr. Slaton confirmed that no treatment is needed. Winky is now fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for his forever home. He’s a little teddy bear full of love, and he can’t wait to meet the family who will cherish him just as much as we do! ------- Interested in adopting?!
